Pursuing pottery after high school
Although student potters do not necessarily aim to make a career out of the hobby, they hope that they can continue pottery after high school.
“I just want to get to the point where my skills are equal to master potters,” freshman Anne-Charlotte Gillard said. “Maybe I’ll take up pottery as a profession when I retire or something.”
Senior Hannah Cohen, who will attend Reed College in the fall, says that a sufficient studio space was something that she looked for in her college search.
“I wanted to make sure that the art studio was available to students who aren’t art majors,” she said. “It was a deciding factor for me.”
