Top 10 things to look forward to in school
August 9, 2014
1. Losing all spare free time to schoolwork. Having fun binge-watching TV shows or hanging out with friends? Good luck having a quarter of that free time during the year.
2. Listening to loud construction noises while trying to pay attention to a lecture or take a test.
3. Waking up early. You’ve probably gotten in the bad habit of sleeping in late. Don’t worry, when school starts, you’ll be waking up at the crack of dawn every weekday!
4. Writing essays. During the summer, you’ve probably lost the ability to crank out the final body paragraph and a conclusion in five to ten minutes, but you’ll soon regain that skill.
5. Annotating books. If you read anything over the summer, not including required reading, you probably did not highlight key themes or quotes.
6. Eating lunch outside. Though we’ll still be eating cafeteria food, we won’t have the gloriously cold cafeteria to enjoy it in, but rather the burning plaza.
7. Pulling all-nighters and staying up late. There’s nothing quite like finishing a paper just hours before school starts, but we all have to stay up late to do homework.
8. Wearing uniforms. Some love not having to choose what to wear and others despise its uniformity, but no matter how you feel, you can still look forward to donning Sue Mills.
9. Taking the first-week-of-school-summer-reading-quiz. You know it’s going to happen and you know the format, but the quotes section will still be impossible.
10. Carrying a heavy backpack wherever you go. Time to start working out your shoulders to prepare for the load. Think of it as getting in shape!
